Episode XV: Future's End

[Beathan MacAinmire]

"Laddy, there are somthing things in life..ya just can't control. Ther be an old earth proverb. 'Ya Can't Win'em all!' Thats why some ppl say being a doctor is harder then being a Captain. You have the gift of life in yar hands." He sadi pating the man on the back.

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

"This is Captain Alexander Kynes of the Federation starship Endeavour. We are stranded in an alien timeframe, and are requesting assistance..."

[Commander Vorak]

"I am aware your situation as you explained to me" he replied "are you able to pilot your ship?"

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

"We are regaining basic warp function..." said Kynes.
"Can you explain this situation... who attacked us?"
Kynes was distressed and curious at the same time. This grim world of the future was painful to see. In the hours they had been there, they had been attacked, boarded, imprisoned, rescued, and enlightened of a dead Federation... This didn't look good.

[Commander Vorak]

"Captain, perhaps it best if you and your first officer came aboard, give your men time to work as we speak. You can relay all the information back to them when needed" comes the reply from Sal.

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes nodded. They seemed quite peaceful. They had the opportunity to destroy the barbarian fleet, but didnt. They were upholding the methods of a since departed Federation to this day, despite grim circumstances.
"We will beam over. We will see you shortly."
"Understood," said Sal.
The viewscreen went black.
"Let's go," Kynes motioned to Vorak, walking into the turbolift.

[Commander Vorak]

He nods and follows "Mcvalen you have the bridge, continue repairs" he calls back.

The Redemption is beyond anything anyone had seen to date. Its holographic elements open everywhere, the corridors above had a plasma following threw it to the main systems. The result made a glowing blue light on the silver surface of the deck plating. In a somewhat federation ,and yet green and blue, looking uniform Sal stood and watched the two materialize.
"Welcome to the SCV Redemption gentlemen. A pure Vulcan, those are in short supply in this day and age. You are the fathers of us all" says Sal.
"Some sort of evolution?" Vorak asked intrigued.
"More like genetic entering, it is a long story and one that I shall cover. Please follow me."
They walk to an office and sit in white oval, hovering chairs. Behind the glowing white with the same blue light was Sal, on the other Vorak and Kynes.
"Can I offer you anything Gentlemen? It is not very often you have visitors from the Gallant and golden era of the Federation of Planets. Oh how I wish to discuss your battles with the Borg before they shut down" spoke Sal very high pitched.
"Borg? we have no data on such a species.."
"Ah sorry our history is somewhat muddled and pieces are missing, and ships is a Excelsior class am I correct?"

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes nodded with a smile.
"Among the first in of it's class," said Kynes proudly.

[Commander Vorak]

"Hmm indeed, the class will serve for many years being the Federations old lady until of course the domin..." he stopped "Of course you wish to know what happened to get to this moment."
He takes out a PADD and begins to go over it before speaking.
"The Federation took over the Klingon and Romulan empires, the Cardassian and Bajorans finally joined the Federation and many more. The Borg were destroyed in 2567 when its central hub V'ger was destroyed in the delta quadrant..." he said skipping over the list.
"V'ger?" commented Vorak "So that is what happened to that being."
"Indeed. The Federation was able to go between all corners of our galaxy thanks to advances in transwarp science and charted worm holes. It became the biggest power in the galaxy but once the Kazon and Ocompa were added things began falling apart. The fighting got bad between the species and factions who all wanted to do things a certain way" he says now not using the PADD as these part were now in his folk lore "It led to a civil war destroying most of technology we had advanced to over the hundreds of years since the what we call "the Alpha Union" and eventually all that was left was the scavengers with nothing of the advanced technology but basic warp and life support and us. Our scientists and ancestors took the technology and fled to an old Federation colony far from here in the gamma quadrant. Hence why those rouges can't find us, not that they would stand a chance."
"Why not use Earth, is it under faction control? Would it not be a target to take the home world back.."
"Ah, I didn't cover Judgment Day..."
"Judgment Day?" he raised his Vulcan eyebrow.
"I think it be better if you saw that part for yourselves."
With a single command the Redemption let out a tractor beam and began to tow the Endeavour as they entered a slipstream corridor. The journey did not take long and soon they exited into normal space.
They were now stood on the bridge of the ship looking out at the view screen. They past Saturn, Mars and then over it came a grim sight.
"Tholian Radiation Weapon" mumbled Sal "this is the first time I have seen the real Earth it holds no use now."

"My God! What the Bloody hell happend out ther?" Beathan said entering the bridge.

[Louis de-Point du lac]

Louis look on "your homeworld?" he ask stepping over the patient.

[zepplin]

"I'm going down to Engineering." he said, not giving anyone the chance to dis-regard him.

He left the bridge.

Arriving in Engineering, Zepplin went quickly to an engineering console.

"Lieutenant Clark, could you come here for a minute?" he asked him, still looking at his console.

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes stood in shock. What was once Kynes' beautiful homeworld was now a grey mass of floating rock. He could see the shapes of disfigured landmasses, but much of it was singed by weaponsfire. If Earth (the Capital of the had-been Federation) had been eradicated, so would the ability to govern the Federation. Kynes calculated that it wouldn't have been long before factions were made, and wars would have been started. Through all of this bloodshed, only the most docile and primitive would survive. The greatest technology would be expended and lost, leaving scavengers to salvage together engines 1000 years obsolete...
"Who attacked the Earth with this? The Tholians?"

"Sir? Thats...Earth? What in God'sa name happend ta it?"The doctor said walking to the screen.

[Commander Vorak]

Sal shuck his head "I wish that were so, no it was a large Federation break away faction named the Human League" he replied with a sigh.
"Admiral Sal, we must return to our time frame" commented Vorak "but the way we arrived nearly destroyed our vessel. Do your men have temporal technology?"
"No" replied Sal looking back and patting Kynes on the shoulder "that was lost before we were born. But there is a large facility on the far side of the alpha quadrant. That area however is controlled by the Kazon and Romulan faction, we must get your ship back to our starbase for repairs."
Vorak nods and opens his communicator.
