Kynes smiled.
"No, that was but a promotion of say... your heroic efforts with steering the Endeavour away from the starbase. That was very altruistic of you, son," said Kynes as he put down he glass and took a seat at the nearest table. He beckoned for Vanlen to sit down with him.

Kynes took out a small book out of his pocket.
"Here you go, Lieutenant," said Kynes.
"It's a copy of my favourite novel, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. It was written in the early 20th century, but it was far ahead of it's time."
