At the age of 11 got into a fight with fellow class mate at school, two ribs were smashed, but he won the fight, and it went on his permanent record. At High school he did fairly well academically, wasn't the brightest student, about top 15% out of 5000 students in his year. Entered Starfleet academy at age 17 after finishing high school.
