Anyway, back to the movie now lady's and gentlemen Its coming out in 2008 earlyish I think, so for me, being in Australia, that really means I'll start getting previews then How about J.J. Directing? I have mixed feelings about him, I loved Ally McBeal and Alias, but I hate! Lost, and I don't want him to take startrek an twist it into something its not... I don't remember where I saw it but he says "People don't need to have seen star trek before to enjoy it." But in the same aritcle he said "...but star trek fans will enjoy it also." Does anyone know if he's a trekky? because if he is, then the movie will be good, however if he's not...

I read an article about that; Star Trek magazine interviewing him about it. It stated that he was sort of a Trekker.
What suprised me was that the guy who wrote the music for the Mission Impossible movies will be composing the score for Star Trek XI.

Yeah, he said that he would use some of the general theme concepts, but put in his own styles in it as well.

hmmm.... not sure I like the sound of that....
But as long as its stil treky enough... I hope it starts a series honestly, it seems to be a good idea to bring one every 21 years (as you look at the last gap 1966, to 1987, then next time logically is 2008) so it may be a good thing.. thoughts on that opinion?

I really hope so, but because a Star Wars series is coming out, the TV people will probably lose hope for Star Trek, and it'll go down in flames.

Babylon 5? pffft, nah a new star trek series would crush any contenders, TNG was kick ass, so this will be even better again, if the curve continues, star wars HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR! no WAY! is there ever even an iota in my mind that star trek could kick the c*ap out of star wars with both hands behind its back! six movies against ten and 5 series (unless you count TAS as well, then 6) no competition,

ohhh god...we have a star trek fanatic!! lamenesses....i hate fanatics of anyshow... who say things like that... look star trek is great budy, but star wars is great to, and B5 is the highest in my book, it had 6 movies and almost 3 seires but the pilot for the 3ed was run at the same time as a football game, not sure witch but everyone watched it so the show was never picked up. But B5 in my book was the best, personaly the star trek movies were oversized episodes and not movies. However good they were they just were not movies, and star trek had no where NEAR enough battles. good stories, but mostly repeats of the same old stuff but tweeked. Don't get me wrong, i love star trek, but it ain't the best. I love both star wars and star trek...anyone who can't either actualy dosin't like one(pretty hard to do being as they are both good) or like conor here is, fanaticle about one to the point of hateing star wars just becuse its not star... but if the world were perfect we would have a star trek, and a B5 seires going, and tons more books and games about star wars.
but for the last time... Star wars good Star trek good B5 Very fracking good

I am sick of your non-sense, I don't want to hear anymore of this said to anyone, and certainly not me, this is about the Star Trek XI movie and your foolish opinions about other shows should be kept to yourself, I'm sure many people would back me up here, if I needed it, which I clearly don't and one more thing... Rudger... buddy.. ol.. pal I AM NOT A GO D DAM N FANATIC There... wheef, glad I got that out of my system, now as long as Rudger acts his age, everything should go smoothly again... Back to the movie, I don't agree that it'll ever go down in flames, I will be an old man in my little cottage with my dog at the age of 80, almost senil before I even think of giving up on star trek, the messages and ideas in it 'are' fantastic, it is more that a show, it is a man's dream for a better way for humanity, so... as long as there are people out there who realise that, the show will never die.

Well, don't attack good shows. And yes star trek will come back at some point, we actualy almost had a new seires but the guy backed out to do something and i quote "That i just can't turn down". that man was actualy the guy who wrote almost all of B5 and created the show in the first place. Now i wonder why he turned down makeing a new star trek. But yes the core of star trek will and has carried it past all of the problems it has and made it something great, so yes it will live on forever...if the TV producers ever wake up and make us a new seires...lazy buggers...

i have no idea lol.
You know what we need to do? We need to get a big stick and start pokeing the TV people and get them to make a new star trek, something nice and new. Like a streamrunner or Akira in the dominion war. Or one from an alien view, like a vulcan, klingon, romulan, ect ect. As great as reruns are they just arein't the same as watching something new.

I think either... a) A series that takes the timeline further, into the 2400s would be good. b) An original Movies time period ship (Excelsior class) like the Endeavour, except better. c) A time ship series.
I don't really care what it really is, I'd prefer to leave it up to speculation. Most likely one however is the 2400s one, as they'll come up with the same sort of reasoning. TNG took the timeline ahead 75 years. Why shouldn't the next series?

Nah a Constellation..thats the coolist ship ever.
but a guess one in 2400s would be fun... but no freaking time ships!!! i hate time ships..
