Hey All,
This was a poem I wrote for someone special, for their birthday. It's more or less of a multi-part summary of my relationship with her and the mess I was in when I met her; how she helped me through some things. It was made with alot of love, and I hope you all enjoy it. It's also being arranged into a song.
Light Again (A Madrigal in 4 Parts)
Written/Composed by C.P Fynes
(I)
Gentle to the eyes
The night lights sway within
Vitality meets demise
This life is rife with sin
The poison dims the light
Scarred by a time of strife
You came into my life
On that fateful night
Meeting through words
Signals transmit
Voices not heard
But my heart was lit
Caught by a moment of weakness
Love took hold on that night…
(II)
I have loved and I have cried
I believed that hope had died
But you left me mystified
As love took hold
Could I have been so bold?
To tell you how I feel
To realize what was real
In you I can confide
For love’s a two way street
Feel the sun from every side
Naught but chance, for us to meet
In me you may confide
I have loved and I have cried
I believed that hope had died
But you left me mystified
As love took hold
It’s gone wrong before
But I won’t sadden anymore
You’ve moved me to the core
I’ll be there for you
I’ll try to change
Exchange love from fear
Rearrange what I hold dear
Released from this cage, doves fly
To a violet sky, the poison lies nigh
But fading…
Asthenia, goodbye…
(III)
Gentle to the ear
Your voice calls
What’s wrong?
Nothing, but everything
I’ll try to change
The light will steer
Me through the halls
Of painful long
Times that sing
Of nothing, but I’ll change
Heal the fault of my ways…
(IV)
Caring, thoughtful, beautiful,
Jubilant, lively, talented,
Sweet as a summer morn’
I’ll try to understand…
If you need someone to lean on
I’ll always be here for you
In strife, I won’t move along
For you, anything I’ll do
I have loved and I have cried
I believed that hope had died
But you left me mystified
As love took hold
Through the afric drought
Or my skeptic doubt
I’ll be there for you
Until the sands run out
For amidst the thunder,
Lies the light of love
For lives can be torn asunder
If not for this light of love
