Dinner with the Captain

[zepplin]

"With all due respect, your saying you not bored of first officer yet? Well, I find that most... 'fascinating'" Zepplin says with a smile, Vorak just raises his eyebrows.

"Heh, why is it you find... humour such a difficult concept? I mean not you personally sir, but most Vulcans in general find the concept really difficult."

"So Captain, how would you judge my performance so far?" Zepplin remarked, taking a drink of root beer he had asked for.

"I mean, in terms of duty wise and things like that..."

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

"Well..." began Kynes.
"I believe you're a very capable officer. You've served this crew admirably."

[zepplin]

"That's good to know sir, I am curious, why was 'I' picked, out of the many applicants for this open position?" Zepplin looked, at the Captain with a slightly cocked head, before looking down at his food, not wanting to take another bite he was that full
~urrrr so sick... urr...~

[Commander Vorak]

"I was responsible for that" spoke up Vorak.

[zepplin]

"Really sir? I'm just wondering what in particular it was that made my record stand out from the rest, if anything, I mean I did minor in science, but I mean that probably not the reason you picked me sir... and what happened to the last Operations Officer?" Zepplin asked, looking to the two of them, before calling the waiter over to take his food away.

"Oh an waiter, could you get me another root beer? Thanks."

The Waiter walked off.

[Commander Vorak]

"he was killed in our last battle on the old Endeavour" he replied "and you were picked as the best for the job, from a number of candidates given to me. You seemed very able judging by your record."

[zepplin]

"Hmm, interesting, I've just always wondered, more than luck I'm glad to hear." Zepplin puts on a smile.
"I am full, I think I might wait a while before starting desert, I mean you guys go ahead, but I'm just too full from that spagetti... I heard a new technology was being invented, or experimented with. They call is 'replicating'. Its quite fascinating actually, once perfect, any place with enough power source can 'replicate' food, any type of food, I know our food dispensors are pretty impressive, but imagine how sophisticated this invention could be? Have either of you heard of it before?" Asks Zepplin.

[Commander Vorak]

"The Vulcans have been looking into such matters, It uses the same tecnology as a transporter to store patterns of matter for replication" he states as a matter of factly.

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

"It should be a help for energy consumption in the near future," added Kynes.

[zepplin]

"Well ofcourse, it couldn't replicate anymore than it used, so it would be impossible to replicate a warp core, from a warp core. But it is still very promising."

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

The conversation began to dwindle, so Kynes started it up again.
"Any news on the Valen treaty with the Federation? I hear they may start trading if everything goes as planned..."

[zepplin]

"Negotiations are going well, but you know politics sir, they talk and they talk, but then one wrong word and someones offended, then they start disagreeing, I mean I hope that the Valens do sign the treaty too sir, but you can never really be that sure. What were some of there proposals?"

[Commander Vorak]

"The Valens are a very secretive race, we will not be able get more than basic tradingw ith them I suspect."

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

"It'll take time, but I believe an alliance may be possible in the future."

[zepplin]

"Absoloutely sir, but time is the key word in these matters." Zepplin added as he finished his meal.

"Well gentlemen, I am completely full, if you'll excuse me, I will see you two tomorrow on the bridge." and with that, Zepplin left the dinner. The two senior most officers remained at the table alone.
