The Endeavour dropped out of warp, falling into orbit over Altan III, a world once full of life, and energy. Kynes had received a request from the parliament of the new Altanian council. They had given word that a prestiged artifact had supposedly survived the holocaust, and lay protected within a labyrinth of mountainous tunnels and rock.
The scepter of Zianxx was bathed in Altanian history. Forged over 500 years before, it represented the divine power that paved the path for the peoples of their civilization. Although the almost fanatical influence it had inspired had somewhat dissipated over the centuries, it was still regarded as an object of power. And whoever posessed the scepter, posessed the hearts of the people.
"When shall we send an away team, Kynes?" asked Jarn, standing beside the human captain. "As soon as we can make a scan of your world's altered geography, and discern the risk factor that would be involved in this mission." Jarn nodded, and bowed. "As you wish, Captain," the Altanian said, feeling that onboard the Endeavour, the highest level of respect was to be expected towards Kynes.
As the Endeavour hung over the violet skies of the dead Altan III, a deep evil churned deep within the planet's surface. 'The children have perished...' 'We must rebuild them...' 'Do they deserve it?' 'Yes, do not question my word. They were imperfect beings. Their physical manifestations caused them pain.' 'Imperfect, sire...? How?' 'Because they came into contact with the aliens. How can we nurture them to perfection, whilst they unravel our work?' 'What do you have in mind, sire?' 'They seek the scepter, brother. It is our gateway to their world...'

Zepplin manned his post, he knew that the away team was going, and being a student of archeology once, but never really having the time to get to any dig sites, he decided that he really wanted to go on this mission. As Jade was in charge, he was confident that he would be a valuable member if he was assigned to go.
"Lt. Jade, I would request I accompany you and your assembled away team to Atlan III, I have not done much recently, but I am a student of archeology, so my knowledge would be most useful, in the last few parts of finding the Sceptor."

"Sir, I believe that Lt. Bligh should accompany us, as Lt. McVanlen would like to look after the ship, and Bligh would be much more useful sir."

"I agree partly sir, I think Bligh and i should both stay aboard, and ensign's Drago and Sh'aal should go, as they both need ground time and Bligh and i could be needed aboard the ship. Me to fly her and Bligh to defend her, neither of us are realy needed on an away mission anyway Sir" I say...

The five of them step into the turboshaft and are displaced to the correct deck, transporter room 1
They go into the Transporter room and stand by to energize on the pads.

"Sir, I'm detecting increased elements of Neutronium radiation in the air. It's not lethal, but I would suggest not to spend more time here then we have to. I expect that after the man-made earthquake the rebels used to destabilize the planet misaligned the tectonic plates so much, there will be frequent tremors around the world for at least another 50 years." Lyana switched her scanning channel to a geographical phase. "We're about a kilometer off from the caverns in which the scepter is located. Shall we go?" she asked.

Meanwhile, onboard the Endeavour, Jarn was on the bridge, tapping in a proper itenerary for the away team, when he suddenly felt ill. 'An Altanian!' 'So they haven't been completely destroyed.' 'What use are they now?' 'It will only take one, brother.' Jarn could hear these voices in his head. It was as if they had forged a telepathic link with him... "Captain, I think I need to go to sickbay. I'm feeling rather ill," he says. The Captain nods, and dismisses him.
When Jarn enters sickbay, he sees Lieutenant McAinmire. "Greetings, Doctor. I'm feeling violently sick. Can you help me?"

Zepplin took off his Helmet part
"Whoof! always gets hot in there, I'll lead sir," Zepplin said, as of course the Commander would not want to risk his own life by being in the lead.
The Away team finally got to the blocked cave entrants.
"Sir, if I may, tricorder readings suggest this is safe enough to fire upon... I will now create an opening to the blocked cave."
Vorak nodded approval
"Setting number five... firing."
BAAAAA
The rock covering the cave grew red hot then vanished from sight.
"This way" Zepplin said, putting his helmet back on.
As they wondered through, skeletons and cob webs, in bizarre shapes, where found all around, before they found a form of riddle.
"Commander, I have found some text, I am now putting it threw the universal translator on the tri-corder."

"Understood, Security fan out and cover the area" he ordered before kneeling down beside the rock. "A marking?"
