you forgot so many... mine is helm. because flying a ship is the best part of space flight!. after all, you can't go anywhere without a helm officer.

How perceptive of you Will, it is indeed Command, and the reasons for this you probably already know, but I really do like Ops and Tactical aswell.

What does that mean? was that an attempt at a french accent? Engineering has the power to make the ship go... I don't really understand your statement.

You can overwrite controls and control the ship from engineering.

not if someone has the construction codes. those can be used at any console to override even an admiral, of course only admirals and the guys who build the ships have those codes. but helms is the best job, because you get to pilot the ship, and without a helmsmen the ships wouldin't go anywhere.

Yeah but what about at St5arfleet command? What use is a pilot? So I repeat Medical is the best!

You may be on to something there nick, only one flaw, you have to be a doctor, could never do that, just too hard, fantay or reality. Operations however goes all the way to the top, I mean Kirk was in charge of Starfleet Operations in ST TMP, if I'm not mistaken, so Ops isn't a dead end either, as you were implying Helm is, but helm can lead directly to command, we have seen... Sulu, he did that quite well

Any field can lead to command. infact all fields do, if you stay in long enough you can reach command as any field. Besides who cares if pilots are low ranked, they still get to fly the ship. and they don't have to cut people open and crap... personaly medical sucks, i mean ome on you would have to learn about 1000s of races and how to fix them and stuff. plus you would have to see guts and stuff, and i practicly faint at the hint of blood lol.

Yeah even Command positions can lead to command But you know helm is cool aswell but engineering is always the best..

All positions? You seriously think that a communications officer could become a captain without changing fields? And barring Sulu, helm? I don't think that they 'all' lead to command, I just think a fair few do, but I've already voiced my reasons, You should be happy with Tactical litch, I don't want the position now, but when I first joined that was exactly what I wanted, but I love Ops

Actualy all fields lead to command as I said, it dosin't mean they stay an officer in their field. I belive it's done by rank, you hit captain and auto-maticly change to command. Of course I'm just guessing since that would make sence but its a TV show so who knows=P
