Musical Discussion can be held in this thread.
My favourite music would probably be Progressive Rock/Metal followed very closely by Classic Rock. I like Progressive Rock (Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake + Palmer etc) because they generally have very interesting, complex compositions that stimulate the brain. Much unlike this 4/4 time signature dance pop shit they play on the radio nowadays.
My three favourite bands are Dream Theater, Rush, and Led Zeppelin.

Classical is good, but it really depends on the composer. In RL, I've composed some neo-classical instrumentals. I hate alot of today's new music though. It seems so directed at looks, and less about the musical talent of the band. You need to listen to Dream Theater, and Rush. They are both brilliant bands.

Black Metal!!!! But i loves modern and 80's metal also. 80's teh most because Metallica are my favourite band and in that era they wrote Master of Puppets the best song I have ever heard. Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir are my Black Metal favs atm I also like some industrial. I gues s my look does attract me to some bands but with some Ie 'Tallica I just like them because I do and fuck anyone who says I shouldn't Oh and btw anyone who presses Emo will be court mashalled and stripeed of rank, I'm serious!

Alternate Universe Conor Emo: My life is a dark pit of despair and agony. I lather in the nihilism of my ocean of pain. I cut my wrists, and write poetry with my blood and tears. I'm a non conformist.
Damnit, I hate Emo!
Master of Puppets is a pretty cool song. Dream Theater did a cover of it, I think. It's cool when it gets into the flanger soft part, with the lead guitar in it.

Emos are a manifestation of everything that is bad with this generation. They don't really have very many problems, besides their dismal outlook on life. They are usually middle class kids who have low self worth, and want to feel 'different' from other people. So they listen to sad music, and pretend to be sad all the time, even though feeling sad ALL of the time is impossible, unless there's a serious medical complicaiton that warrants the stress. Emos listen to crap music, dress like freaks, write acanyne poetry, and then call everyone else a conformist... Textbook definition of Dipshits! Progressive Rock is the best kind of music, because when it's good, it's really good and it's a great breath of fresh air from normal mainstream rock/pop. Listen to Tom Sawyer (by Rush), Metropolis Part I: The Miricle and the Sleeper (by Dream Theater), or Astronomy Domine (by Pink Floyd) and you'll see what I mean. By the way, has anyone ever heard of a band called Symphony X?

ME? well I voted classic rock
you know the Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, I would even say Pink Floyd, but not so much (still good) also The Animals, all that sort of thing is right up my alley of music, so I vote Classic Rock.

No dude, you voted for Classic Country! Classic Rock was at the very top! By the way, I never really got into the Rolling Stones. They seem so overrated to me. A pissing toad could sing better then Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards isn't all people say about him. Listen to some John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, or some Yngwie Malmsteen stuff and you'll see what I mean when I say that Keith Richards isn't THAT great of a guitarist.
King Crimson kicks ass! "In the Court of the Crimson King" (1969) is one of the essential albums of the sixties. Everyone go out there and buy it. I myself don't actually have the album, but I've heard enough of it to know it's awesome. So everyone go out and buy that CD!
The 60s were so cool, you guys like the Kinks and the Yardbirds? (Note: Yardbirds' Main Guitarist was sequencially Eric Clapton, then Jeff Beck, and then Jimmy Page!!!)

That is discraceful, the Rolling Stones are an icon to the Music industry and to Musical history and will 'always' be remembered by people of 'real' taste... 'Captain'. Not only are you so wrong about a fantastic guy, Mick Jagger,. but also the fact that none of the bands you mentioned were popular in the days of the Stones, as they were the Seventies, and you're referring to bands of prodominatley the sixties, so its not a fair comparison I must admit... as STONES KICK ASS! but... having said that, I think that everyone should be entitled to an opinion, as long as its not insulting, like my step mother always says... "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all." And I think that really applies in this instance.
