Ok, lets get one thing clear, Evanecense aint that bad alright man, but they are so not what I would call Black Metal... unless i don't know the definition, other than I don't really like the sterotype of it (which may even be wrong... I don't know) so the point is they are more like pop, I mean everyone knows em, so they gotta be.

well Evanessence is as far from pop as is possable. Thats like saying mettalica is pop. pop is britny spears. and Evanessence is part of the black metal movement, cause theres nohthing else close to classify it. enless theres a black rock class lol cause its not metal, but its not rock, but its not pop. so i still think its black metal, and karl, did you listen to the songs i listed on the last page? if you havint you must as soon as you read this, their awesome.

well that to, but shes prolly smart, having seen some of her backstage stuff she seems funny aswell, shes got a great sense of humour, somthing you don't get often from goth vocalists.

No, I really don't like Evanescense. I like intelligent complex music.

well classical has the most intelligent and the most complex music ever. And if it wereint for classical most modern forms of music would never have existed. but Evanescence is most certainly not simple. and Amy Lee has one of the greatist voices ever, making Evanescence only that much better. But classical music is still the best and most important music, without it we would be argueing over compleatly differint bands right now. And none of the ones any of us like would ever have existed. But anyways, I do like many differint kinds of music, but at the top of my list for the moment is darker bands, like flyleaf and Evanescence. And of course Classical music like the works of Bach and Beatoven and many others, Russian classical to be exact, the stuff that influnced all forms if metal. (in the words of the bands themselves)

So does anyone know the definition of Black Metal? ok, from what I know, Heavy Metal, is lots of drums and electric guitars, so 'Black' Metal would be... hmm, ok I'll let you guys sort if out, it obviously isn't in the dictionary, so we can make up a definition that makes sense.. can't we?

There are so many so genres of metal, it's hard to keep in track with. Heavy Metal, Modern Metal, Traditional Metal, Speed Metal, Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal, Goth Metal, Epic/Power Metal, Neoclassical Metal, Progressive Metal... The list goes on.

I dislike Amy Lee. I do not care for Evanescense. And I do agree that Classical is highly complex (counterpointing melodies etc) and as a musician/composer I can really appreciate the meticulation put into those works. However, there is more modern (20th Century, 21st Century) music that's also complex. Take Jazz for instance. That stuff is great.

ya, some jazz is good, but classical/some metal and rock bands are my favs. but i love evanessence, cant understand how anyone can not love it. but then again alot of people think i'm crazy for hateing people like Elvis. then theres rap... only two or three are good, Eminem, 50 cent has a couple good songs. and a few others like Ludicris. and then there lady soverign, but with her its just cause shes british, cute and funny. and of course part of why its funny is because of her accsent. to qoute a line from the daily show

Its imposible that rap is good. Its all crap. The only good is Weird Al's White & Nerdy. Why? CASUE I CAN HEAR WHAT THE FRELL HE IS SAYING!!! God I hate music you can't hear the words. clearly you have never listend to ludicris the very good songs 50 cent has, and eminem. you can understand every word. and there are good country songs, but none that strike me. Classical speaks to my soul, as do bands like Evanesence, Within temptation, nightwish, and Flyleaf. but Eminem has some very entence songs that realy get me, i shall now link some eminem and ludacris songs to proove that though most rap is lame some is very good.
