Episode XIX: The Ancients

[Commander Vorak]

Vorak walked onto the shuttle deck and looked at the new crewman that had just shuttled in from Deep Space 6. Most of them fresh faced, but one crewman he knew very well. Rudger Mcvanlen was back on board and just in time for their new mission. He also noticed the new navigation officer they very much needed.
"Greetings to you all, welcome to you assignment on the USS Endeavour. I am Commander Vorak Science Officer and Second in Command of this vessel. If you have any problems to do with ship resources, personnel reasons or your duty shift you come to me. As you may or may not know our mission will be one of deep space exploration. I hope you have all prepared for that much. Once you have settled in, head to your stations and your department heads will brief you. Dismissed."

[Daniel Clark]

Daniel sat at his Engineering Station monitering the ships status when a smalle group of Officers walked in. And looked around in awe
Daniel heard some of his Experianced Engieers mutter:
"Newbies"
Daniel smiled and stood and walked over to them, all young Ensings
"Welcome to Engineering" He said "Lt Daniel Clark, Cheif Engineer welcoem to Engineering"
"Thank You sir" They said in unision
"Now i notice you've all came down here with out unpacking so all of you go and find you Quarters" Daniel said and they went of
Daniel returned to his console and sat

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes scanned the bridge deck with a renewed vigour. The sight of these new recruits reminded him of his early days as an Ensign.

Walking over to Vorak, he spoke.
"We've been given our next course of exploration, Commander," said Kynes.
"Are the new crewmembers fitting in well?"

[Commander Vorak]

"Indeed, and the ship is now once again in the hands of experienced pilots" he replied "Which does improve or chances on this mission. I will inform them."
Vorak walked down to the front as Rudger and Naomi took their seats.
"The Captain has given me the course that is now appearing on your monitors, ready when you both are."
He nodded to Kynes as he took the science station.
"Science ready captain."

[Lt Matina Jade]

Jade watched Rudger pass her and take his position. She gulped, not really knowing what to say. Or if to say anything, she preferred to remain quiet.
The recent experience with the Derrien had left her scarred and somewhat not what she used to be. She had recently begun to let people in far more than she used to. But her hard edge still remained, and a bitter taint of anger that she hoped would not cloud her judgment on this mission.
"Security green across the board Captain" she spoke up.

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes nodded.
"Take us out," he said, waving his hand forward.

The Endeavour pulled away slowly from Deep Space Six, and jogged at quarter impulse until it was an ample distance away from the station.
"McVanlen, Warp Factor 6."

[Daniel Clark]

Daniel smiled as the Warp core's pulse increased showing the ship was going to Warp. Just then his new Engineers walked back in.
Daniel beckoned his Assitant over and walked over
"ok everyone, this is Lt James Haddson, he's going to show you around Engieneering and engineering sections" Daniel said and nodded to James

[Lisa Rogers]

Lisa watched as the new recuits entered the Gym as her marines Stood behind her,

" Recuits" She gruffed, she had enough to do as it was,

" ATTENTION" Lisa yelled at the top of her voice, The recuits Jumped To attention looking like they would wet themselves,

Lisa slowly looked over them and sighed, If these were the best starfleet had to offer then She had alot of work to do,

" Welcome To the Marine Core you maggots, I am First Luietenant Lisa Rogers, I will be your Commanding officer While you are on board this ship. If you have any problems or conserns Then Go tell someone else, I am not here to be your Momma, When I am done with you, You will be eat, sleep, and think Marines, Is in't that right boys" Lisa turned on her heel as the Other Marines Yelled,

" HO-RAR"

Lisa faced the new recuits,

" You will learn the ropes from those who have been here longer than you, If you Break the rules then You will have punishment duty and I will be mericeless on your soul, When I call your name you will be assigned to your squad, then you report to the quatermaster for your kit" Lisa pulled out a PADD form her pocket and bellowed names.

[Commander Vorak]

They were well into their flight when Vorak's console beeped.
"Captain I am picking up a planet due north west. Running as detailed a scan as I can from this distance."
He ran his hands over the console and looked into his scope of swirling monotone circles.
"Heavy pollution in the atmosphere, evidence of of drilling into the surface and structures. No doubt a mining planet."

[Lt Matina Jade]

Jade was startled from her trance as she heard this.
"Should I but my men on alert, just in case?" She asked.

[Commander Vorak]

As the ship was ordered to drop out of warp, the brown and orange planet came into view.
"Standard orbit" he requested as he began to run close range scans.
"No signs of life Captain, It appears to be abandoned. However many structures still stand. We may have a chance to fine out what happened to the people here, or where they are now."
He saw Kynes give approval and Vorak went about assembling the away team.
"Mcvanlen, Jade and Rogers with me. Bring two security and two marines for back up, in case the facts are distorted to the truth."
He stood with them, they packed into the turbolift.
"Transporter Room."
Clark and Doctor MacAnimire meet me in the transporter room

[Beathan MacAinmire]

Aye Laddy. I be right there. I just gota find me tricorter. Beatahn replied finaly findinf the missplaced obgect on his office chair.

He walked down the coridor to the transporter room.

[Lisa Rogers]

" aye sir," Lisa said as they walked to the trubo lift.

She had been trainning the new officers all morning, they were the worst kind: lazy, Slow and arguementive. She would have ot knock that out of them.

As the trubo lift ground to a stop, the team piled out and Lisa found a inter-com near by,

Davis and O'connor, report to Transporter room 1 on the double

Lisa looked over to Jade then Mcvanlen, They would be good together if Jade would let her guard down long enough.

[Daniel Clark]

Daniel gathered a tool kit and headed for the Transporter room
<Transporter Room>
"Anyone have any idea whats going on?" Daniel asked

[Commander Vorak]

"We are going down to find that out" replied Vorak "We may need to bring computers back online so we may read the logs."
As everyone was now here he signaled to transporter chief to stand bye.
Vorak led the team up on the pads and spoke.
"Energize."

The planet was rocky mostly, the drills and lift of the mining operation we still there, as were tools lain around as if left in a rush.
The transporter beam glowed and from it the landing party emerged.
Vorak began his scan and pointed toward the large structure at the center.
It was the largest in the area and certainly seemed like and operations command center. No wait, it was larger than that. It must have also been a living area.
"The miners camp no doubt" he spoke as they reached a large metal door.
"Clark, can you open this?"
