Vorak and Ruger are pleasantly surprised when the hear the USS Constitution is to be docking with them at Starbase 9 for a retirement ceremony dedicated to its now 67 year old commander Admiral John Mcvalen, Rudger's Father. It is also in light of a diplomatic event in honor of the Klingon Federation talks. But do all the parties wish the talks to go well? And such a powerful old commander standing up for peace is exactly what terrorists will target.

Sounds a bit like the Ambassador episode to me, but with some tweaking it might be a nice change of pace. Maybe a character-based episode?
And doesn't John McVanlen captain the Hibrina, a CONSTELLATION class vessel?

hold the phone, Constellation? you 'must' mean constitution, I mean the Constellations weren't in service yet... no no, one was, the USS Constellation, as a prototype, but the class hadn't been commission yet.

So hes captaining the ship at near 70? rock on! But I think his retirement is a good idea. Will give us all chance to add continuatlity to our characters. Hmm mabey instead of the assination attempt the Captain is refusing to step down, starfleet want a younger capatin to take hsi ship but he wont budge. Would be fun.

no its a constellation. they were made in 2280 or something i belive...else in TNG they would not have all been decomished and considered 50 years out of date=P

that can't be right, ok, the stargazer was in service with captain picard for 22 years before he came on board the enterprise, and he wasn't the captain the whole time
2363-22=2341,
So it was commissioned in the 2330s, 50 years after it was developed? must've had a couple of refits.

dude they were in this era, they were designed A LONG time before picard got his. and john has one! end of story. the matter is not up for arguement as it has already been used in the story and the fact that im compleatly sure it was in this time because in its profile on a very good star trek site i use it said "Designed in the late 23ed century..." thats not early 24th thats late 23ed witch is what this is set in so i am correct.

Hey, can we postpone this episode for a while? We're in the middle of an arc, and the tightly written episode reputation we've had is beginning to slip. We need to focus more on adventure (much like TOS) and exploration. Stuff like from the early Endeavour season. We can do this episode after we've finished this particular 3 mission arc.
