Episode VIII: Far Cry

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Stardate 9592.8
We are responding to a distress call from a fringe Federation colonial world Deianera II. Communications were lost shortly after the call was issued. The Endeavour has sinced headed to the colony at maximum warp.

Captain Alexander J. Kynes sat in his chair, as the Endeavour raced closer towards the planet.
"Lieutenant McVanlen, drop out of warp," said Kynes.
"Zepplin, what is the condition of the colony?" he asked the Chief Operations officer.

[zepplin]

"Captain, sensors indicate that the colony is in ruins... I am getting slight power fluctuations from the Planets surface... possibly weapons, and I am picking up some survivors as well. However;"

Zepplin paused as he turned to the Captain.

"I am getting some residue from possibly some unusual weapons fire, I can't find it in any of our records sir. The only way we will be able to rescue the survivors is by taking a shuttlecraft to the planets surface. I recommend we take the Endeavour into a closer Geo-synchronous orbit, and cover the shuttle from possible weapons fire."

[Rudger McVanlen]

"Aye sir Droping out of warp now" Rudger says as he throttles back. "Going into high orbit maintaining 1/4 impulse now sir".

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes nodded to Zeppelin.
"McAinmire, Jade and McVanlen, come with me. We need to find out what happened to this colony..."
And with that, Kynes and the assigned officers headed for the shuttle bay.
When they arrived, Kynes let McVanlen enter the shuttle first, to get settled in to his controls. The rest of the away team got strapped in.
"Take us out, Mr. McVanlen," said Kynes. The shuttle roared to life, and it's vibrating hum could be felt throughout the runabout. As the shuttle left the hangar, Kynes contemplated what foul mysteries resided beneath that alien sky...

[Rudger McVanlen]

"Looks like a gentle ride down Sir. No weapons fire detected on my sensors yet, and no craft in the air. Weathers good to" Rudger says while looking around and guiding them as if he did this everyday. Looking at a gauge and then checking his sensors "ETA is 5 minutes, so buckle up boys and girls" He says with another of his grins.

Suddenly he looks at at sensor and checks it twice. Picking up his communicator and saying into it "Endeavour, be advised that i saw something skimming the mountains 20 miles due east of our position, keep those phasers locked on that area, i don't want to get blind sided"

Flipping his communicator closed and saying over his shoulder "Sir, i couldn't identify the thing but it was roughly 6 times our size and had no code so it wasn't a standard craft of the Federation" Looking back to his console he continued to glide them down...

[Daniel Clark]

Daniel then walked over to the main control panel and run a diognostic on the weapons array

[zepplin]

Zepplin was on the bridge, having heard the report from McVanlen.

"Commander, I have locked onto the alien craft, I see no signs of powering weapons... it is no match for the run-about."

[Rudger McVanlen]

A few minutes later...

Setting the Shuttle down in a clearing near the ruins of the world capitol building, Rudger turns and says "Shall i stay with the shuttle or come with you Sir?"

[Beathan MacAinmire]

OOC: Conor i think your word your looking for is 'inferior' not 'insuperior', hope its helpfull.

IC:
"Aye, we may need you." Beathan said tossing a larger medical equipment at Rudger. "Ther you go, your being helpfull already" He added smiling

Shouting a quick glare at Beathan witch turned to a grudging smile Rudger says "Well then, shall we go see what happend?".


OOC: and btw, it was a Tau shuttle, and should have droped off the sensors, plus it should have been considered an easy match for 10 shuttles and a runabout. The Tau make Vulcans look like babys tech wise=P

[Captain Alexander Kynes]

Kynes stepped out. Deianera colony had been small, defenseless... It's location didn't even posess much of a tactical utility. A clear motive for an attack was uncertain. The vapours of atomized debris sifted gently through the stale air. Habitat towers on their sides, obsructing the paths through the colony.
"Proceed with caution," recommended Kynes, as they made their way through the jungle of rubble.

Pillars of smoke twisted up through the sky and danced with the sunlight. Kynes tried to hold his breath, weary of the distasteful air. Maintaining a steady grip of the hilt of his phaser, Kynes wandered into one of the homesteads.
"Hello?" he called out; his voice reverberating upon the battered walls.
"Is there anybody in here?"
Silence at first, but then a groaning mumble.
"Who is that?" a frightened voice replied.
"We're a Rescue team. Federation... We're here to help you," said Kynes, using tone of voice to calm the obviously distressed survivor, whereever he was.

The sounds of churning rubble sounded from the next room. A young Andorian man lay squirming under several beams of wood.
"Someone, help me get this man out of here!" said Kynes.

[zepplin]

OOC: Thanks Mac, I changed it to something different all together, and Rudger, lets just say that was a scout vessel and a larger one could be a much greater threat I believe everyone would be happy with that.

IC: Zepplin looked at Vorak, trying to show little to no emotion in his expression in honour of his Vulcan heritage.
"Do you believe it is wise too... I'm sorry sir, they have moved out of our sensor range, shall I go to Engineering to try and boost sensor efficiency?"

[Rudger McVanlen]

Rushing over Rudger began to try to shoulder some of the beams off of the Andorian. "It's ok there we will get you out".

[Commander Vorak]

"No Lieutenant I think Mr Clark can handel it. I want you at tactical incase anything happends. Attempt to contact the shuttle" says Vorak.
"Engine room, full power to the deflector."

[Daniel Clark]

Suddenly a power-surge ripped through the ship
